Battle Of The Lip Glosses: Clarins vs. NYX

July 14, 2015

If I had to choose between a lip gloss and a lipstick, I'd choose the latter - no questions asked. For me, nothing beats a good lippy. I'm a low maintenance kind of girl (at least, I try to be) and lipsticks just seem to require less touching up - even if you're wearing a red. I suppose this is due to the array of finishes available in lipsticks: mattes, sheer tones, lustres, cream-sheens, frosts and pearls to name a few (yes M.A.C I'm looking at your purse-emptying lipstick stands that always manage to lure me in). So whether you want a lip colour that just won't budge or one that gives your lips a nice juicy *yes, I said juicy* high-shine finish whilst harnessing impressive colour payoff and staying power, lipsticks just seem to fit the bill. But, despite my undenying love for lipsticks, there are times when I want something less... well, 'done up'.

Dipping My Toes Into La Roche-Posay

July 13, 2015

So I'm back from my little (I say "little" in inverted commas of course) blogging hiatus and I'm feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and raring to go - and so is my skin. Growing up, I've always been that girl:  that girl who never needed braces, that girl who didn't have to deal with fluctuating weight issues, and yes, even that - annoying - girl who miraculously dodged teenage acne. I say annoying because now, at the ripe age of twenty, I'm all too familiar with that girl, and boy are there a lot of them. Most often than not, I'd see her on my tube journey home from work on a particularly humid day, sitting down on one of the last available seats, her makeup perfectly intact with no oiliness in sight. Meanwhile, I'd be pressed up against the sliding doors, sweating profusely and trying to (discreetly) blot away shine from my nose with my sleeve. Classy, I know.

Fuchsia Fever

October 17, 2014

Isn't the thought of donning a bright fuchsia lip more terrifying than a red lipstick? Just me? I've always stayed well away from blue-toned pinks and opted for the safer options of mauves, rose-y hues and the MLBB (my-lips-but-better) shades. Cowardice, I know. Lately, I have been attempting to channel the,  I woke up like this minimal makeup look *scoffs*. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with slapping on a light base, a bit of-oh who am I kidding-  lashings of mascara, a sweep of blush and I'm good to go. But sometimes the urge to unleash my inner Scandinavian is too strong: Bare eyes and a strong lip? Oh yeah.
